Day 5 - New Mexico Soap

Have you ever tried finding a replenishing soap that isn't full of chemicals and doesn't leave your skin feeling dry and irritated (especially in our dry New Mexico climate)? Well look no further.

Diane Black and her husband began New Mexico Soap when her husband experienced a need for the best after-skin-graft care following a work-related refinery fire. He was sent home with advice to use  commercially made soap, but couldn't find soap on the market that was not drying and of benefit to her husband's scars. After reading the ingredients (and not being able to pronounce most of them), their journey for making a much better soap began.

Soon after creating their own soap recipes, they were asked to make soap as favors for their daughter's wedding. The soaps at the wedding were a huge success and friends and family started to contact them to see if they could purchase their soaps. Thus New Mexico Soap was born.

They are most known for their "Ugly" and regionally designed "Pretty" soap bars.

Some of the pretty soaps they have created include adorable red and green chile soap (they do NOT contain chile, but are in the shape of the famous peppers) as well as the New Mexico State flag bar soap. All three of these soaps will be a part of our grand giveaway, (see giveaway instructions below!)

Red chile - cinnamon

Green chile - minty lime
NM State Zia - lemon

I'm in love with this Zia New Mexico state soap, adorable and leaves you with soft great smelling skin!
I like that New Mexico Soap bars contain the freshest saponified oils with no detergents or sulfates. They are made with 100% pure soap, vegetable oil based and are extra mild and long lasting leaving skin feeling moisturized and nourished.

Unrefined Shea butter (found in on type of their soaps) has been around for centuries and has a history of renewing, repairing and protecting the skin.
Shea butter can help replenish dry skin, eczema, psoriasis, dry/cracked cuticles, itchy/flaky scalp, face and lips. A small amount of avocado oil is also added because of its beneficial properties to help with eczema and psoriasis.

You can find their set up at the Las Cruces Farmers' Market each Wednesday and Saturday from 8:30 am to 1 pm. You can check out all their amazing soap products in time for the holidays on their website. They make great stocking stuffers!
